Memory Lane

It’s raining outside. My meeting ended late so I don’t have much choice but to spend my lunch time in this freezing cold office today- alone as usual as the guys are out for lunch and Friday prayers. Luckily I put on my jeans and sweater today. I would have been ‘kerasss’ if I were put on my baju kurung. 4 days in a row pakai baju kurung gi keje this week…what an achievement! Today’s lunch would be an apple with a cup of hot Nescafe. A balanced diet – the apple is to detoxify while the coffee is to toxic me…hihih..but I’m going to start my detox diet next week (seriously)..InsyaAllah. Been eating too much lately pun.

I’l be participating in a charity run this weekend with my two other friends. This is the second time for me to participate in a running event. My first ever was the KLIM 10km run last month. Can still remember how excited I was 3 days before my first run. Serammm wooo…takut tak leh abis lari jer.

Mana taknya..less than 2 weeks before the event a lot of things happened…kaki terpleot ler, kaki cramp ler (kaw2 punya sampai tergolek kat dalam kelas bodybalance- eee malunya bila ingat balik!), badan sakit2 ler (pasal masuk bodypump) and I became very discouraged due to my body’s condition. But since memang dah dasar terjal…nakkk jugak masuk, I tried different methods to ease the pain.., put on flat shoes, went for sauna at the gym (tak penah2 masuk before this), urut kaki ngan deep heat tiap2 malam, pakai minyak urut, tuam air panas and lastly rendam kaki ngan ice (last resort..got this tip from someone (thanx for the tip anyway..it worked)). Part rendam kaki dalam ice nih, my parents tak tau coz buat nyorok2. My parents geleng kepala jer tengok anak diaorg sorang nih..till my Mom said “Apsal ler budak nih…orang tak kejar ko nak lari..hmmm”. But they’ve been very supportive till the end although I know deep down they are worried that I’ll get my knee injury back (1 month physio therapy & 3 months no gym).

But it was worth all the sweat, pain and agony that I’ve been through the 8 weeks before the 10km run. Bear in mind, I won’t be able to do it if I have not followed my training schedule diligently and watch my health condition closely. I did a lot of research and findings before I sent in my registration form. Then, it was no turning back.

So now, I have to admit I’m now hooked to running (although not till 70km/week la..haus lutut2 ku nanti). Can’t wait till this Sunday..participant no. 7745 is ready to run and have fun!!

P/s Me not running today at the park, takut “hit the wall (bonk)” if lari petang nanti. Tasted it last week - Friday, one nasty bugger..pasal makan pisang goreng & guava only during lunch last week…felt dizzy & about to puke plus all sorts of other feelings when I was doing my second lap. Tobattt tak buat lagi. Thanks for the info tank abt the bonk thing.Never knew abt it till I read the write up abt it...thought I was going to 'kick the bucket' last week..heheh
