How time flies….although I’m fully aware that we are already in year 2005, there are times when I find it hard to swallow the fact that things will continue to evolve inevitably and you have to catch up with them – whether u like it or not – for example….updating your resume/CV! Tension betul… In my case – I just realized that my resume needs a major overhaul!
I’ve been “assuming” that my resume would sit prettily in my computer – untouched and undisturbed till last Friday. A client called to ask for my resume to update their company’s profile. Confidently I said no problem..will fax to them ASAP coz I have dozens of resumes in my comp, be it my friends', sis', and work related ones.I think I can open up my own Jobstreet lah..hehe
Clicked on my personal folder then went to the personal resume folder..at least 10 files in the folder. First file..nope..2nd file – not mine, 3rd file-nah..Emma Rama’s resume, 4th file ..some else’s resume, 5th my sis’ resume, 6th ,7,8,9,10…weiiii…where’s my resume aaaahh???
Okay…okay..take a deep breath..where did I put my resume lah. After a few moments, ahhhh..patut ler,I changed my Macintosh last year..must be in one of my back up CDs…opened up my ‘treasure trove’ and patiently went through each possible CDs..Dec 04 – tarak, tak pe try Oct 04 – no luck, tried May 04 – tak de jugak, randomly took Jan 04..pun tak da. In CD 2003 kot.. I told myself. 2003 might be the last time I updated my resume, why not browse through the CDs labeled that year – tarak juga. Okay..maybe 2002 kottt..takde jugak..finally tried the 2001 CDs..hampeh..buang masa betul! Went through my hardcopy manalah tau, kot2 ada terselit2. Found one..finally…the same one that I applied for my current job..which was in Dec 2000!! Mannnnn…that was ages ago, zaman ice age baru2 lepas grad. I can swear that I actually updated my CV in 2002!
Oh well…In the end, I started from scratch – buat balik..but a very brief one. Enough for my client to update their company’s profile..but definitely not enough ‘meat’ if u want to apply for a job. I guarantee that the CV will end up in the dustbin if I were to send in anywhere…heheh.
So lesson learnt…always..always update ur resume although u have no intention to find another job currently. It might come handy whenever u need it. I hope I’ll be able to complete my resume this week. At least if anyone ask, I’ll be able to send it to him immediately! Ceh..condifent jer jawab kat client hari tuh…Tapi heran lah, naper resume everyone else’s resume are there but not mine..magic..magic
